Matt, a Certified Professional Resume Writer, studied business communication at Cornell University.

Matt studied business writing with leading professors at Cornell and served as a Communication Consultant in Cornell’s Communication Center, where he helped students craft their job-search materials. He is now based in London.

After graduating from Cornell, Matt worked in the corporate sector, where he discovered that otherwise qualified candidates were frequently rejected from interview opportunities due to poorly written CVs.

What is an Applicant Tracking System (ATS)?

What they do

Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) are used by HR departments to manage the recruiting process and keep applications organised. They also help recruiters quickly screen candidates so that only CVs relevant to a given position make it through the initial screening.

Examples of applicant tracking systems you may have come across when submitting applications include Jobvite, LinkedIn Recruit, SuccessFactors, Taleo and Workday.

How recruiters use them

When recruiters receive a high volume of applicants for a given position, they often use ATS search and filter functions to find top candidates based on keywords related to that role. As a result, it is important to customise your CV to specific job postings, especially if you are applying for roles at larger corporations.

No trustworthy CV writer can or should guarantee placement. Too many variables beyond our control—your fit for a particular role, the quality of other applicants and interview performance—can influence a hiring decision.

However, you can be confident that we will help you to identify and then highlight your strongest credentials—and to communicate them to recruiters in an effective way.

What will my CV look like?

We design all our documents to adhere to the highest professional standards and incorporate design elements that will make your messages visually inviting, maximise skim-value and draw the reader’s attention to the most important information on the page.

We do not produce documents with extensive colours, images or graphic design because we find that they are not well received by recruiters in most professions and are not always compatible with applicant tracking systems (ATS).

How soon will I receive my documents?

Standard Service

Our standard turnaround time for delivery of draft documents is five business days once you provide all relevant information.

If you need a faster turnaround time, you have the option to add Rush Service to your package:

Next-Day Rush Service

Our Rush Service turnaround time for delivery of draft documents is one business day. You will also receive priority revisions.

Two-Day Express Service

Our Express Service turnaround time for delivery of draft documents is two business days. You will also receive priority revisions.
