How to Remove Your LinkedIn Profile from Google Search (2025 Guide)
How to Remove Your LinkedIn Profile from Google (But Still Be Found by Recruiters)
While LinkedIn is a powerful professional networking platform, you may prefer to keep your profile out of search engine results for privacy or discretion. Fortunately, LinkedIn makes it straightforward to disable public visibility—meaning your profile won’t appear in Google, Bing, or Yahoo searches—but will remain accessible to logged-in LinkedIn users, like recruiters.

Follow the steps below to adjust your privacy settings today:
Step 1: Access Your Public Profile Settings
-
Log in to LinkedIn.
-
Click the “Me” icon (your profile photo) in the top right corner and select “Settings & Privacy.”
-
In the menu on the left, click “Visibility.”
-
Choose “Edit your public profile.”
Step 2: Turn Off Public Profile Visibility
-
You’ll now see your Public Profile settings in the right-hand panel.
-
Locate “Your profile’s public visibility” and toggle it to “Off.”
-
A confirmation notice will indicate the change was saved.
Once disabled, your profile will no longer be accessible via search engine results. However, LinkedIn recruiters and other users can still find you on LinkedIn itself.
Step 3: Wait for the Search Engines to Update
Changes won’t reflect on Google or other search engines immediately. As LinkedIn notes:
“The information that appears in search engines... is gathered and updated by the search engines themselves. The speed... depends on how often each search engine updates.”
Typically, within a few days or weeks, your public profile will disappear from search results as indexers re-crawl the site.
Quick Summary
-
Disabling public profile visibility keeps your LinkedIn hidden from Google and other search engines.
-
Your profile remains accessible to recruiters and connections via LinkedIn.
-
The change isn't instant—allow time for search engines to update.
